For half a century, artificial stone has been widely used in various fields of design. In this article we will tell you in simple language about the properties and advantages of the artificial stone, as well as how it can be used in the interior.
A revolution in the world of finishing materials
Korian, as an alternative to natural stone, appeared 50 years ago and became a real sensation. Not a single material has opened up such wide possibilities before designers and finishers. Using acrylic stone, it became real to create exclusive designs and objects in almost any color and size and, most importantly, without seams. In recent decades, the workshops and factories where Corian is made and its products have become quite a lot. And all this is solely due to the popularity of the material.
The main advantages of acrylic stone
As we have already managed to say, artificial stone allows you to create a completely seamless design of any shape and length. That is why this material is especially often used for the manufacture of kitchen worktops of any complexity. Where natural stone is too unyielding, Corian can help a lot. But this is not its only advantage. Again, unlike natural stone, acrylic is much easier to repair after mechanical damage (although the material itself cannot be called fragile) – any chip or crack can be repaired without leaving a trace.
In addition, artificial stone is more resistant to dirt, moisture and chemicals, which makes it ideal for use in the design of kitchens and bathrooms. The wide color palette does not limit the designers in the decorative possibilities, and the environmental safety of the material does not jeopardize human health.

Yes, frankly, acrylic stone can not be called cheap. But if the artificial material is not much less than natural, then why not, one wonders, give preference to the “original”? The answer should be sought in each individual case, based on their own requirements. If, say, you want to get the subject of the original form or shade, then it is definitely Corian. If you want to not be afraid to put a hot frying pan on the countertop or wash it without fear of damaging the surface, then this, again, is Corian. It also happens that the construction of natural stone is simply impossible to transport into the room, and you have to mount it directly in place – then with acrylic stone it will be much faster and, most importantly, easier.
Acrylic stone application
It is easier to say what is not made of Corian, because today its use is very wide. This includes furniture for the bar (including whole bar counters), and reception desks, and furniture for the house (all kinds of shelves and shelves), wall panels, and facing materials for finishing the floor or steps, and even podiums. However, the most popular products from acrylic stone, of course, can be called countertops for bathrooms and kitchens, washbasins and sinks, shower trays and window sills made of artificial stone.
