Symmetry in the interior is ubiquitous: a pair of identical chairs in the living room, two bedside tables on either side of the bed, twin covers on cushions, and even two windows in one room – this is symmetry. But why in one case it does not strike the eye and looks harmonious, and in the other causes irritation at the level of the subconscious? Symmetry as a symbol of order
Let it be said that absolute symmetry in nature does not exist, but our brain perceives the symmetric picture best and fastest: it is understandable and a priori harmonious. To some extent, symmetry can be called a symbol of order. At least the symmetrical interior is the opposite of a chaotic environment. In addition, this principle helps to harmonize even the most free, eclectic design of the room. Symmetry in various styles of interior

The room, which design as if consists of two identical halves, located opposite each other, there is a strange, odd feeling that you suddenly got into the famous Lewis Carroll fairy tale about Alice through the looking glass. Living in such a “fairy tale” can be quite difficult: the ideal order on the verge of surrealism quickly becomes boring and annoying. For staged interiors, public institutions, museum halls, this effect can even be useful.
But from the unobtrusive symmetry, which manifests itself only in individual objects and elements, the residential interior, of course, wins.
Symmetry in the decor
Where symmetry helps out most often is in interior decoration. The pairwise arrangement of paintings, table lamps, vases and other elements of decor – this is the simplest and always a win-win way to harmoniously decorate any room.
