Provence style living room

Before the Scandinavian style broke into the world of interior design and conquered it, the Provence style could be called the most popular. Even today, this trend has a lot of loyal fans. If you are one of them, then you will surely like the idea of decorating the living room in Provence style! And the magazine “Your interior”, of course, will help you with this.
Provence style in the interior
What we call Provence, Americans call the “French country”, that is, “French country”. In this case, the very concept of “country” in this case is a definition that describes the rustic style. It turns out that the Provence in the interior should depict the design of houses in the French province. However, in reality, how we understand this, how representatives of other countries see it and how the French themselves do it are different things. In order for a provenance in a city apartment (or even a house) in our latitudes to look as plausible as possible, one should try and spend money. Save in this case is unlikely to succeed. Here we need natural materials (or very high-quality imitations), plenty of space, good lighting. In general, it is good if the living room in this case is spacious enough and located on the sunny side of the house. The lack of sunshine will make Provence unnatural, since in the province of sunny France, bad weather days are rare.
Wall, ceiling and floor decoration
As we have already said, Provence in the interior involves the use of natural materials, including in the decoration. If we talk about the ceiling, there can be no suspended and tension structures here. It will look good even, painted white, the ceiling or its surface can be sheathed with wood and decorate the false beams. In any case, the ceiling should be white. As for the walls, it will fit perfectly with textured plaster or wallpaper. Moreover, the wallpaper can be solid or have an unobtrusive floral print. Also, if you wish, you can sheathe the walls with clapboard made of light wood. The floor should be wooden or, at most, revetted by a tile under a stone.
Color spectrum
Provence style is different soft, muted colors. There is no place too saturated, bright and screaming shades. White, light gray, baby blue, pale pink, beige, cream or ayvori are well suited as the dominant color. Also in the color scheme you can include pastel colors, such as: lemon, lavender, mint, olive.
Provence style furniture
In principle, to find suitable furniture for the living room, it’s enough to sound in the store or enter “Provence-style furniture” in the search box – it clearly stands out from the general mass of modern furniture and confusing it with the classics is quite problematic. As a rule, it is made of light wood, or it is covered with light paint. The Provence style living room will look great with a sofa, the back of which is bordered with carved wood, classic bent-leg chairs, small coffee tables … Very well, aged cupboards, bookcases and sideboards and semicircular cantilevers fit the wall.
Decor
If we talk about the decor of the living room in the style of Provence, then the main role here, of course, should play textiles. The French country “loves” floral prints and a cage, especially Vichy. It can be safely used in the design of the window, upholstery of upholstered furniture and all sorts of decor: table runners, napkins and so on.
No less relevant here will be paintings and photographs in the role of decor. At the same time, the photographs or images themselves must have a vintage character or a type of sketch drawings from a book on botany. You can also use vintage porcelain tableware, old figurines and even dolls in your decor.
