Interior decor: common mistakes that can be easily corrected
Decorating your interior means making it more comfortable, distinctive, beautiful and original. And, more often than not, in this task nothing else brings us but … enthusiasm. With endless perseverance, we make the same mistakes, which, as it turned out, can be fixed in one day!
Books as interior decor
Yes, books and magazines, indeed, can be a worthy decoration of the interior – we even devoted a whole article to this topic. However, do not be deceived by the chic view of staged interiors in the photo, where literally piles of books are collected on coffee tables, window sills and the floor. Such compositions do not always look real in life, and how much this is convenient in practice is an open question. Besides, whatever one may say, but the books on the floor look ugly everywhere. We recommend to remember about bookcases, shelves and shelves, which can also look quite stylish, while maintaining order in the room.
To use home plants as a decor today is very fashionable – this is a special trend. Moreover, plant growing is considered a very exciting hobby. In some cases, it delays so much that the rooms slowly turn into greenhouses. And everything would be fine if the pots and tubs do not interfere with walking around the house, do not hang threateningly over your head and do not close the window opening, preventing sunlight from entering the room. So, if the flowers in any way interfere, it clearly hints that it is time to get rid of some of them.
In the pillow kingdom
Unless you are going to build a fortress out of pillows, as in childhood, we recommend not to get carried away with decorating with their help. Yes, decorative pillows – this is a wonderful decoration, thanks to which the interior in a moment becomes more comfortable. However, this decor should be used wisely, otherwise it begins to visually overload the interior. This is especially true of the design of small rooms.
Kitchen for show
And again about trends: today, kitchen interiors without hanging cabinets are becoming more and more common. Yes, this solution has its advantages, which we also wrote about in a separate article. First of all, it gives you the opportunity to turn all available kitchen utensils into decor – and you don’t need to invent anything. But no trend should contradict common sense: if there are too many utensils, and it clutters up all the free space, then it is still better to hang up the lockers in the old fashioned way to make room for cooking (well, we must not forget about ergonomics). Moreover, let us be honest: not all the dishes in which we cook and from which we eat are suitable for showing off. And, if the suspension modules are not yet possible to buy, then at least try to remove all that is out of sight, otherwise there will be no order and comfort, too.
Trays and containers are very often used to create decorative compositions to decorate the coffee / coffee table, window sill, countertop in the bathroom, and other surfaces in the interior. It is assumed that with their help you can put together completely different items and sometimes it really works out. But for a good result, you must have either a very fine taste, or decorating skills. If there are too many things on the tray that visually “scatter” and attract too much attention, we recommend reviewing the contents and removing too much.
