Which interior is better: dark or light?

… On this topic, you can carry on endless disputes, but everything always depends on situational circumstances and your perception. Anyway, today we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of dark and light interiors, as well as how to make their design as comfortable, beautiful and stylish as possible.
Bright interiors
Perhaps, it is worth starting with light interiors, since this is the choice of the majority.
The advantages of bright interiors
They are light and spacious, even if the room is quite small, it is easy to breathe in bright interiors, they are calm and unobtrusive. The interior design in bright colors looks festive and neat. Light colors are ideal for such styles as classic, neoclassic, modern, French style, Scandinavian style and Provence.
Problems of bright interiors
Many believe that the main problem of the interior in bright colors – is marcos. But, to be honest, it is much more important not what shades you use in the design of the room, but what materials. If it is, say, upholstered furniture with light upholstery, then textiles should be impregnated with special dirt-repellent. If we are talking about furniture, then on a bright gloss, of course, any contamination will be noticeable, and matte surfaces do not give out errors in cleaning. Also try to avoid synthetic materials that attract dust and textiles that accumulate.
But what can really become a problem is the feeling of incompleteness and triviality of the room design in bright colors. Bright interior should not be boring! To do this, try to incorporate in the design not only neutral, but also more expressive (though still light) tones. In addition to beige, ayvor, sand and gray, there is a whole palette of pastel shades – do not forget about them and do not be afraid to apply.
Also, experts recommend betting, if not on color, then on texture. Let the textures reveal themselves, whether it is textiles, wood or stone. For example, one shag carpet in a bright living room can radically transform the interior – it will become much more interesting and “livelier”.
Do not forget also that the interior should have accents and be sure to have a focus point. So that, looking around the room, there was something to stop at. If the whole interior is dissolved in neutral, light shades, then it will be really boring.
Dark interiors
The interiors in dark colors are chosen by courageous people with a burden to experiments and everything unusual. Here opens a huge palette of complex, deep shades, in which, most importantly, do not drown!
The advantages of dark interiors
In them always lies the understatement and mystery. Dark interiors are chamber and a priori cozy. You feel protected in them. The room in dark colors, provided competent design, is surprising and fascinates with its design. This is pure luxury and designer courage is evident. Dark can make the interior in a classic style, art deco style, boudoir, modern, fusion.
Problems of dark interiors
What is impossible to be silent about: the interior in dark colors can seem gloomy and depressing. You can get rid of this feeling in many ways. The first is to introduce enough white color into the interior design so that the dark tones will stop “crushing”. In some cases, it is enough to leave the ceiling light.
It is also extremely important to take care of good lighting: both daylight and artificial. One ceiling lamp here is definitely not enough.
Engage the mirrors and glitter of metals – this will give the dark interior not only light, but also high cost.
So that the dark interior does not seem boring (which is also quite possible), try to make the complex shade a leading one.
And remember: a dark interior should not be necessarily monochrome. You can combine different colors if it leads to a successful result.
