Why do we need secret doors in the interior and how to hide them

Speaking of secret doors, only stories about old castles and mysterious Narnia come to mind. But only if you are not a designer. Because secret doors in modern interiors are no less real than, say, interior windows. When such a non-standard solution can be of particular benefit, why do we even need to “hide” the doors and how beautiful it is to do – read in the magazine “Your Interior” right now!
Why do we need hidden doors
In fact, there are several answers to this question, and they are all very prosaic – no hint of a riddle or magic. Few people install secret doors only to conceal the existence of a particular room. There are usually more real and pressing reasons for this.
First, the hidden door helps to visually increase the area of the room (or even both rooms, between which there is such a door). It does not stand out against the background of the wall, does not attract attention and completely “dissolves” in the interior. This technique is particularly relevant in the conditions of small apartments and houses.
Very often, secret doors are installed in the dressing room. And, both in the bedrooms and in the hallways.
Secondly, secret doors with a non-standard opening mechanism can not only visually enlarge a room, but also save quite a lot of space.
Well and thirdly, secret doors help to get rid of the feeling of a walk-through room. Moreover, it is appropriate in bedrooms with two entrances. To preserve the feeling of privacy, a secret interior door in this case would be a great solution.
How to “hide” the door
The easiest and most ingenious method to make the interior door a secret – paint it in the color of the wall. The more expressive and deeper the tone of your choice will be, the less noticeable will be the door leaf.
Another simple way is to paste over the door with wallpaper. The main thing is not to forget about the plinth, otherwise the effect of the hidden door will not work, and it will still stand out against the background of the wall.
In the kitchen and in the corridor, where the walls are covered with wooden panels, you can install secret doors disguised as panels – it looks very elegant and expensive. By the way, the same solution is also found in the design of bedrooms where large built-in wooden wardrobes are provided.
Well, the last, the same way – a secret door behind the subject: it can be a large wall mirror (which is actually a door), a large picture or a bookcase. Not to say that such a technique can save a lot of space, but it is definitely capable of making a special “chip” in the interior!
